Picture of the Day ~ Week 5

Have I mentioned that I love 'Picture of the Day'? Well, I do and this week I especially love it because it gives you a sneak peek into our 12 day vacation to California while giving me a little time to go through the 755 pictures I took on this trip {yes, you read that correctly seven hundred fifty five pictures - my dad would be proud!!!}. I must say, it was very difficult narrowing each day down to one picture. You'll have to wait for the last three days of our trip until next week's picture of the day and in the meantime I'll be working on posting the rest of our trip!

Oh, I also updated our POTD Week 4. You can view it here.

OK, here goes...

We went to the San Diego Air and Space Museum today. Perhaps we have a future pilot on our hands?

Today we went to a playground in the morning, ate lunch at La Salsa and then went to the beach. I handed D the camera and told him to take pictures. I love this one. Same foot up, hands and arms the same way, heads both down watching out for 'creatures' living in the seashells! Love it!

Sea World today...this was pretty cool!

We visited the World Famous San Diego Zoo this morning. Here are a few of our favorite animals!

We went back to Sea World today and while I had envisioned my POTD being the one with L touching a real starfish or Baby I watching the dolphin show, I was wrong. Zoe and Elmo happened to be in the 'Sesame Street Bay of Play' and so we took L to see them. She couldn't stop talking about meeting them and I knew this had to be the POTD! Check out that genuine smile!

D, J and K came to California late Thursday night. We spent Friday hanging out and showing them the ropes of Coronado. Of course, this had to include a stop at our favorite ice cream shop Moo Time Creamery. Yum!

D and J stayed with the kids tonight while we went on a date {don't worry we repaid the favor on Sunday}. We walked the beach just after the sun set and I asked a stranger to take this picture of us. We walked up and down Orange Avenue before deciding to eat at Rhinoceros Cafe & Grill. It was delicious!

Conversations with L

Surprise! You didn't think you'd get another post this week, did you? As it turns out, I haven't done a 'Conversations with L' post for a while so I had a few saved and thought I'd pre-schedule this post for you. Enjoy!

{After Baby I started crying}
Me: "L, what did you do?"
L: "Nothing!"
Me: "L!!!" With the teacher mom look…
L: "I’m not lying!"
Me: "L?!?"
L: "I did something, but he’s not crying anymore!"

{After earning a prize for being good and choosing a sucker…}
D: "Why do you like suckers L?"
L: "Because they’re sucky and licky and you can lick them!"

{One morning before breakfast}
Me: "You get 2 marbles L! One for staying in bed and one for not crying out in the night!"
L: "But mom, I got out of bed."
Me: "You did? Well, I have to take a marble out then, but I'm very glad you're being honest! Why did you get out of bed?"
L: "Because Monkey was on the floor."
Me: "Why was he in the floor?"
L: "I just threw him down there so I could get out and get him!"

{During lunch one day}
Me: "L, when you finish your sandwich you can have some applesauce."
L: "Yum! Does Baby I want some, too?"
Me: "Well, Baby I isn’t a big fan of applesauce."
L: "No, but he’s a little fan!"

Picture of the Day ~ Week 4

Ok, so for those of you who check this blog daily and who have already asked me to post my 'Picture of the Day' daily instead of weekly; this one is for you (ahem...mom!)! Yes, I know Saturday is missing, I'll post it soon {or actually later}!

Baby I hasn’t had a bottle since Thursday night before bed. So, today I thought it was safe to pack his bottles up and put them away. Hooray!

A common phrase of L’s is, “I don’t want to be alone!” This must be why she has 3 imaginary friends (Buggy, Taney and Bubba Jo) and has named her own hands Hunter and Reed (yes, she still occasionally talks with her hands as if they are the neighbor boys). Today though, I looked over to see this. L was doing puzzles with Monkey. She had given him his own little pile of puzzle pieces before starting on her own.

This afternoon, I was having L try on some of her spring and summer clothes to see what still fits for an upcoming vacation. Baby I wasn’t much help; unless of course, you think throwing the clothes around and playing peek-a-boo with L’s shirt is helping…

This is a common sight around our house--Doctor L checking out Patient I. As it turns out, Baby I really is sick today {think feverish, crabby, fussy and altogether miserable}. Tonight, while Baby I was having an “I feel horrible!” cry session, L came over to him and whispered, “I really love you Baby I. I even love you when you’re sick!” The comment didn’t seem to relieve Baby I any but it sure melted my heart!

I spent the majority of today packing!

This is not the picture I intended to use for today (and it may not be the picture that ends up in my blog book as bigger things are happening today). However, when I saw this, I knew I had to get a picture. This is sooo our life right now! L has been told that if she doesn't want Baby I touching what she's playing with then she needs to keep it out of his reach. That is getting harder and harder to do!

**UPDATED!**

This is our 'official' picture of the day for today. California here we come!!

Picture of the Day ~ Week 3

Week number 3 of 'Picture of the Day' and I'm still loving this! D might even say I'm a bit obsessed...

Baby I decided not to take an afternoon nap today (not that we didn't try!!) and as a result he fell asleep in the car on the way home from Church tonight. This is not usual for him!

Mom and A came to help us celebrate Baby I's birthday and they were able to stay until Monday! In this picture, we were enjoying a nice breakfast. This was before L claimed to have put a star (stick-on earring) up her nose. We couldn't find it anywhere and she was adamant that it was up there so to the doctor we went. The doctor couldn't find it either. We still have no idea where it is...

We went to the mall today to have Baby I's one year pictures taken. A trip to the mall almost always includes a stop to look at the fish. Today was no exception.

On Sunday, D and I were able to sneak off to an open house while Mom and A stayed with the kids. We entered a drawing for a $100 giveaway and won! D went to accept the check today.

Baby I is one year old already. How can it be?!

L and I played Chutes and Ladders today and she beat me fair. and. square! Notice I'm still on number 37.

We ventured to Walmart this morning {despite the fact that the temperature was well below zero}. I prefer to shop while D is along so we can take 2 carts; it's just easier that way. And yes, I did feel a little silly taking a picture in the Walmart entrance. :-)

What?!? How can this be? When did my sweet Baby I turn one?! This cannot be true...oh but it is true, one year ago today {at 5:11am} Baby I was born. Since then, our lives have been crazy, busy, noisy, tiring, happy and very, very blessed!

"Say what? It's my birthday?!"

YESSSS!!!!

Happy 1st Birthday, Lil Man. We love you so!

Stuck on You

Today after breakfast, L was playing with a magnet (that I use to hang up her 'artwork') when she discovered that it sticks to more than just the fridge! I decided it might be fun to do a mini science experiment (I use this term loosely as there was no hypothesis or other scientific data, but she did have fun!). Here's what we found out...

Does the magnet stick to the dishwasher? Yes!

The drawer? Um...nope!

The oven? Yes on the oven drawer, no on the oven door.

The window? Nope.

The front door? Yes!

The wall? No.

Baby I's high chair? Yes!!!
{She was very excited about this one!}

As was Baby I.

Does the magnet stick to Baby I? L's answer: Yes! My answer: "Well, it is staying on him but not because he's magnetic, it's just because you put it on top of his leg!"

And finally, does the magnet stick to you?? Nope!

Don't worry L, it's a good thing that magnets don't get stuck on you!
