Project Life ~ Week 29

(We went to a new park not far from our house today.  L enjoyed it {aside from the fact that there weren't any swings!!} and I Man spent much of his time playing with a football he found {of course, he'd find a ball!} and refusing to go down any slides at all.  About 15 minutes before it was time to leave, L talked him into going down the. biggest. slide. at. the. park!  He did and loved it.  Ask me how much fun it was to get him to stop.  Wait, nevermind, don't ask me!  ;-))

Project Life ~ Week 28

(L has been promoted to main dishwasher emptier {I Man now does the silverware}.  Her job is to take the dishes {minus glasses} out and stack them on the counter for me to put away.  Today I found the dishes stacked like this...)

If You Guessed...

OK, who am I kidding, only 2 of you left a comment (thank you Courtney for making me believe that my mom is not the only one who looks at this blog!) and they were both great guesses and both correct {kind of!}.  Broccoli?  Yes.  Something with seeds?  Yes.  But why were my kids collecting it? 

It's not actually broccoli,

it's these things (seed pods?) growing on our big tree.  The kids were pretending that it was broccoli so they could make 'broccoli soup.'  Because apparently, they like broccoli {unlike me, although I don't remember hiding broccoli it was usually meat, you know, anything that was NOT chicken, ahem!} and they wanted to make it into a delectable dish. 

L even made a recipe card {I added the text}!

I Man brought the flowers {the perennials around here aren't looking as pretty as they should be}.

And there you have it, Broccoli Soup!

So if you guessed broccoli, you were right!  And if you guessed something with seeds, you were right, too!  :-)

It was all fun and games until somebody told somebody else to eat it

Project Life ~ Week 27

(We spent an extra day at my grandparents house which gave us time to play a few games of Rook!  I didn't have a very good hand but Grandpa was my partner so it worked out!  ;-))

Here are my excuses...we spent Tuesday in the van on our 6 hour drive home from Iowa, Wednesday was spent doing laundry and recooperating (yep, it was the 4th of July and we did absolutley nothing!) and well, I don't really have an excuse for Thursday or Friday. 

We bought I Man some M&Ms and 'big boy' underwear today as incentive a bribe to use the potty.  It's not working...

My friend and childhood compadre was married at the end of June on my sister's farm.  It was a beautiful wedding from start to finish!  Many of these first pictures I actually took the day after the wedding as I stayed busy on the actual wedding day.  Take a look...
