The Rest of the Weekend

Aside from spending Saturday morning at the Zoo, the rest of the weekend was spent with D's family at our 'annual fishing trip.'  We ate, talked, laughed, ate, went to the Memorial Day Service (D's Great Uncle M was the speaker this year), ate, and of course, we fished!

(I even caught a few fish this year - hooray!  Oh and I don't touch the fish which is why my father-in-law is holding all of them!  Thanks J!)

(Enjoying pancakes

from the master pancake maker!)

(Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for a hot dog roast at the pit this year so no family picture {boo!} but we did get this one with L {I Man was napping}).

(She joined us on the boat for an hour!)

(She got to watch D catch fish after fish {Monday was his day!!}

and practiced baiting hooks {ok, not really she was more interested in playing with this worm who I'm pretty sure was wishing it were on the hook - ha!}.)

Thanks for the great weekend Grandma, Grandpa and Great Grandpa.  We had a great time!

A Zoo That's Out of this World Country

While we were up north last weekend, we took advantage of being so close to Canada and headed up to Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg...

The first thing we saw was butterflies!  They weren't doing much as it was pretty cold {for butterflies}.

Next up were the camels

I Man enjoyed them,

but L preferred this camel (you know, or the bugs, the swinging chain link fence etc.).

We saw the 'usual' zoo animals

as well as a few 'unusual ones' including sea eagles, red pandas, tree kangaroos, capybaras and some others whose names I can't remember.  The bottom left hand picture is of some goat like animals that were chasing and fighting for us!

Of course, there were plenty of these around {do they just call these geese in Canada??}

and a peacock who showed us his beautiful tail feathers!

It was

a fun day

at the zoo!

We ate lunch on our way out of town the country here because when in Rome...

Project Life ~ Week 21

(I wanted to go for a walk this morning {as in actually walk, for exercise, with the kids in the stroller}, L didn't want to go if she had to sit in the stroller so we made a compromise.  We could do a letter hunt {you know, look for things that start with each letter of the alphabet and then cross them off} while we were out.  Shhh don't tell her, but I'd say it was a win win for ME!)

(I Man was happy to be out and about)

(When we got back home, the kids ran around the front yard for a while.  I'm not sure what caught their attention here...)

(That's what L said when she spotted these huge sunglasses at Target today.)

(We went to the zoo with Grandma and Grandpa P today.  More coming soon...)

So What

So what if the only place I Man will perform for the camera is in the bathtub.

So what if he is playing with numbers but singing the alphabet song.

So what if his version of the alphabet has two f's.

So what if he gets distracted by his belly button halfway through his song.

So what if his four year old sister begs me to record her singing the alphabet just like I Man (despite his protests!).

You still want to see it, don't you??

Oh and I didn't upload the video of L singing the alphabet (though I did indeed record it!) but you can see her singing at about this age here.

When Grandma and A Come to Town...

{Ok, so the title says 'When Grandma and A Come to Town' but only Grandma seems to have made it into any of the pictures I took (which wasn't very many...boo!).}

we

eat

ice cream (among other things!!)

help Grandma

do

projects

get silly and have lots and lots of fun!

Thanks again for coming, we enjoyed our time with you!

Project Life ~ Week 20

(keepin' it real!)

(I use the term 'helpers' loosely, of course, very loosely {notice the sand in one of the planters, ahem!})

(Yep, I Man has adjusted to his new sandals.  He'll even wear them on his hands over his ears...)

(While out garage saling today, L found this purse and asked if she could get it.  I said, "do you know what it says?" When she said no, I read it to her.  Her reply was, "I DO love pink!!!"  Obviously we had to buy it!)

Project Life ~ Week 19

(It's mysterious because she took it herself, but clearly her hands were elsewhere...)

(What was supposed to be a quick morning out, turned into a trip to Walmart's tire and lube today.  Can you tell how enthused the kids were about it?)

(If one's children start 'playing garage sale' does it mean you've garage saled too much??  Nah!  I was especially surprised to see Sock Monkey and Cheetah for sale {notice the stickers}...

but I Man was there ready and willing to sell!)

(It's about time because I've had a sewing machine for almost 4 years, and because I bought the material to make these rag quilt letters and numbers more than a year ago but it wasn't until today that I actually sat down to do it {after buying the other necessities at Walmart yesterday}.)

(I started with the numbers because, well, there's only 10 of those.)
