Indian Summer

Yes, the calendar says that it's fall

and our leaves are definitely changing colors, but our weather the past few days has been wonderfully sunny and warm.  More like summer, really!

  Perfect for collecting leaves

pinecones

and the berry things hanging on our tree.

Perfect for posing happily

or, you know, not so happily
(these are I Man's infamous 'crazy eyes,' if you haven't seen them, you're missing out!)

for pictures

with your sibling!

Thank you, Lord for this beautiful Indian Summer!
(Sidenote:  I wish our photographer hadn't cut L's head off in this one!  Sigh!)

The More We Get Together

together

together

the more we get together

the happier

we'll mama will be!

I hesitate to post this (as soon as I do, I'm afraid it will vanish before my eyes!) but L and I Man have been getting along beautifully today so I thought I'd share the harmony.  Enjoy it and then please forget you ever saw it (because then, just maybe it will continue?!).  ;-)

Picture of the Day ~ Week 38

L and I Man enjoyed their very first tractor ride today!
{They're in there somewhere, I promise!}

Mondays continue to be one of our 'tubby days' and L loves playing in the tub!

We went to storytime at the library again today and brought home a whole new batch of books.  I'm so thankful that my kids love books!

I came into L's room today to find I Man all snuggled into her bed (he, of course, had moved by the time I left and came back with the camera).  Don't get any ideas I Man, you are staying in a crib until you're 30 for a very long time!

I have been trying to do at least one art project with both kids each week.  This week it was painted apples with beaded worms.  It was a successful project for both kids ~ hooray!

We very rarely order pizza (unless of course you count picking up a Little Ceasar's on the way home from Church) so when D suggested trying delivery from a new pizza place in town I said, "Sure!"  It took a long time to get here {as in, close to an hour!} but it was well worth the wait!

I Man pushed the vacuum over to me today saying, "on?"  I happily obliged because, who am I to tell him he can't start pulling his weight around here?  ;-)

This Last Weekend

This weekend (who am I kidding it's practically next weekend already!)  Last weekend we went up to D's parents' place for bird hunting.  Yes, the guys went hunting (which I didn't get any pictures of, boo!) but we also...

hung out and played

with Cousin K

sang songs with Aunt D (this was the babies crying on The Wheels on the Bus)

celebrated Uncle J's birthday
(no we didn't have any candles, yes those are matches on his cake, no matches don't work well as a substitute for candles, just in case you were wondering!)

colored with Grandma

met a wooly caterpillar
(sorry if there's a dead caterpillar in a jar at your house Grandma!  I don't think that we ever 'let him go!')

and {after having Great Grandpa's famous pancakes!} rode in a tractor for the very first time!

(Not sure what D's doing...  Maybe asking me to stop taking pictures?!  Huh, oh well, the tractor was too loud and I couldn't hear him so I kept snapping away!)

We also celebrated Uncle J {again...ahem!  ;-)} and Great Uncle R's birthdays but my pictures didn't turn out!  Thanks for a great weekend, Grandma and Grandpa!

The Post in Which Baby I Becomes...

I Man!

You had to have known it was coming, right?  I mean Baby I can't stay a baby forever {sniff, sniff!}!  In fact, he is 20 months old today (the same age L was when I wrote this post) and each day he is showing me just how grown up he is getting to be!  For example...

he no longer sits in his highchair, but at the table with the rest of us (I seriously asked D to get the high chair back out after seeing how big he looked sitting at the table!)

he doesn't like to crawl down the stairs {or 'steps' as he calls them} anymore but instead waits at the top saying, "steps!  hand, hand!"  (Excuse the picture, I was taking it while helping him down ~ you know, super mom and all...ha, ha, ha, ha!  Just kidding, seriously!)

he climbs up onto chairs saying, "knee, knee!" (I think this is because when L sits on a chair without a booster she says, "I'll sit on my knees!")

he refuses to be left out of a project even if it's just coloring (which he loses interest in in about 2.3 seconds!)

he folds his hands and waits patiently while we pray before proclaiming, "amen!"

he has 'big kid' determination

and a mind of his own (yes, it is much more difficult taking pictures these days!).

He is still very much obsessed with balls (and is especially loving 'footballs' lately) but will occassionally play with a car, truck or tractor saying, "Vroom!" and "Beep!" and if he sees a train, car, truck or tractor he gets excited and says, "bubye!" as they pass.

If he wants me to read to or play with him, he grabs my hand and says, "sit down!?" unless he wants to play Ring Around the Rosy in which case he says, "ring 'round!"

He has recently learned the number one (though I'm not sure he actually knows what it means) and whenever you ask him how many of something he wants, he says, "One!"

He continues to be both a good sleeper (including naps - thank you, Lord!) and a good eater.

And when someone says, "who wants to _______?"  He is usually the first to say, "I do!"

But one thing remains the same, he is totally head over heels in love with his big sister and would follow her just about anywhere, unless of course she asked him to and then he'd probably say, "No!"

So, from here on out, Baby I will be known as "I Man" and hopefully I can get my act together enough to remember and document more of his antics (or Iisms?) before he grows up anymore!  Sigh!

Picture of the Day ~ Week 37

Baby I has a new favorite word..."football!"  I'm pretty sure that's because he got to watch part of a football game with Daddy today!

Monday {09.12.11}
L and I finally {finally!!} finished our Letter of the Week book.  This has been close to 2 years in the making but we have officially made every uppercase and lowercase letter in the alphabet!
(Ideas taken mostly from here and here.)

I signed L up for Storytime at our local library and the first session was today.  She spent 30 minutes listening to stories, hearing poems and singing songs.  I'm pretty sure she liked it, because on the way home she asked me when it would be Tuesday again!
Sidenote:  This picture is way cuter when I don't have everyone's faces blotted out!

This one is just because I like how nicely she is sitting and listening!

D brought this box in from the mailbox today and both kids said, "pizza!"  In reality, it contained goodies from my dad who had recently returned from Poland, thanks Dad!  We opened the box together and enjoyed some delicious treats and other fun items, but Baby I was most interested in the box!

D took today off and met his dad and grandpa at a golf course a short drive away.  He and his dad played a couple of rounds of golf and enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant.

Today we drove to D's parents' place for the weekend.  L loves to color with Grandma!

While we were up north, the guys went bird hunting.  I never got a picture of them but I did capture this one.  Of course, these boys didn't get to hunt, but they were pretty excited about the blaze orange hats!

Picture of the Day ~ Week 36

We helped my Grandparents celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today!

Poor Baby I had been in the car far too long and when everyone else took turns getting out for a bathroom break, he was not very happy to be left in his car seat {we were an hour from home though and can you imagine what he would have done if we'd taken him out and put him back in?!}!

Baby I wanted to go outside today and when I told him to get his shoes he ran to the entryway.  By the time I found him, he had just about every shoe out of the closet!  Too bad his shoes were in the porch!  :-)

L filled her marble jar (for good behavior) today earning a prize from our prize box.  Her choice...bubbles!  She was funny to watch as she tried to blow the bubbles and catch them {it didn't work very well!}.

We've been talking about creation at our house and today we planted grass {in honor of day 3}.  Once it was planted L wanted to play in the dirt.  I love that you can see Baby I running behind her (off to find a ball, no doubt!), too!

Baby I loves mashed potatoes, can you tell?

We went to not one but two parks this morning {one of which had a basketball court}, trying to enjoy our last little bit of summer.
