Clutter

Everywhere...
I look...
it seems...
I am surrounded...
by...
clutter...
clutter...
and more clutter!
Oh...and smeared glass, too!
I must admit, that some days it really gets to me! But a few months ago I read the following poem and it has been on my mind a lot lately...

Song for a Fifth Child
By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

And so while cleaning and de-cluttering still needs to be done, I am trying to remember to take lots of pictures, enjoy every moment and spend as much time as possible with my babies along the way!! After all, someday I'll look back and realize my messy house didn't really matter that much. Right?!?

Me and baby I at 2 months

These would make some great "Picture of the Day" photos! :)

You've encouraged me today, my dear. Thanks!

Welcome to my world x 5!!! I was glad to see that there was more than just toy clutter - cause I think your house is always perfect! Thank you for the poem...it's a very good reminder!
