Thanksgiving Day

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera out much at all on Thanksgiving (boo!).  I was too busy enjoying food and family and the freedom that having an older cousin around {therefore keeping L happy and busy} afforded me!  We learned that L doesn't like pumpkin pie or stuffing {what?!} and that without a nap, I Man can be very crabby!

{he wasn't crabby, yet!}

"This is good!"

Coloring with older cousin J and his sister E.

{you may recognize J from here}

Playing 'throw the ball down the stairs' with D.

There it is...crabby!

Thankful {and a couple of conversations with L}

She's thankful {and so are we} for the many blessings God has given us. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

{side note:  I am in L's Sunday School class on Sunday night and we did this project last week.  I *heart* handprint turkeys!  Oh, and she's thankful for the birds but not I Man, hmmm...}

Conversations with L:
L:  "I'm going to like heaven!"
Me:  "How do you know?"
L:  "I've already been there before I was born."
Me:  "You mean because God made you?"
L:  "Yep {pause}...and then did he throw me down here?"
Me:  {through laughter} "Not exactly!"

{While L was emptying the silverware and discovered the baby spoons in the back of the drawer}
L:  "Hey, can I use these spoons?"
Me:  "Nope, those are for babies who don't have any teeth."
L:  "You should get another baby so we can feed it with these spoons!"
Me:  "You think I should get another baby?"
L:  "Yep, you can just ask God if He wants to make one for you."
Thankfully, L was content when I reminded her that Auntie {D's sister} was having another baby.
L:  "Oh, then we can use these spoons to feed her baby!"
Me:  "Hey, great idea!"  ;-)

Picture of the Day ~ Week 46

This morning while D and I were getting ready for Church, the kids were playing hide and seek.  I Man would hide behind the door {he hid there each time it was his turn to hide!} and L would count before finding him.  Then they would switch and I Man would count, "1, 2, 3" before finding L!

I ordered groceries online today and while I was working on crossing items off my list, L was making a list of her own {it reads:  gas, candy corn, chips and milk}!
Side Note:  L is really into writing words right now and so I've taught her to stretch out the words and write down the sounds she hears.  She did the word gas all by herself and I helped her stretch the other words while she wrote down what sounds she heard.

Today was the last day of storytime at the library {next session starts in February} and since we made it to all 10 weeks, L got to pick out a free book!

While I Man was in the tub today he gave me the usual Dora rundown {you know, tummy, back, eyes, nose etc.} but when he got to her ears, he said, "ears gone!"  Oh and when I told him that the dolphin he's holding was blue and asked him if he could say blue, he did, but when I said, "what color is the dolphin?"  He replied, "green!"  Sigh!

Today I took the kids to Target where we officially began our Christmas shopping {think I'm crazy?  It's week 46 people!  There are but 5 weeks until the big day!}.

I did a mini photo shoot with the kids today.

There's not much to say about this one except that he's a boy; hogging the remote is in his genes.  Now if only he knew how to hold it!  ;-)

Picture of the Day ~ Week 45

The mighty hunters {not including I Man, of course}, but unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of Great Grandpa D and JJ, boo!

Grandma and Grandpa get the Disney Channel!
Translation:  We spent quite a bit of time watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse this weekend.

L is still very much into dress up, especially since she found these old glasses in the dress up bin {they had been put away for a few months}.

While I was taking pictures today I Man brought cheetah over and said, "cheese cheetah!" over and over again until I took his picture!

These two can be so cute when they want to be!

D had the day off of work today and since the weather is still nice around here, he put up our Christmas lights!  They look great, thanks D!

We watched Cousin K today and I was lucky enough to get this great shot of all three kids, I love it when that happens!

Better and Better

Cousin K came over today and while we were out playing in the porch, I just had  to get a picture of all three kids in their cute little hats.  Now usually, this isn't an easy job!  I mean, 3 kids 4 and under looking at the camera and smiling at the same time!?  Not gonna happen, right?  Wrong!  As it turns out, each one just got better and better...

Ok, so this one wasn't better than the last but still cute, no?  It was also the last picture I took since I had definitely lost them!

While Daddy Was Hunting

 D's Grandpa is a hunter.  D's Dad is a hunter.  D is a hunter and someday I'm sure I Man will be a hunter, too. But this year, he was a little young, so while daddy was hunting...
he tormented Norton the cat

she played in the sandbox with Grandma

he helped carry the oats

they got to see two of Grandma's horses

she even got to touch one(!)

he chased Norton the cat

she practiced flying

and they spent lots of time playing with cousin JJ {who L just discovered is her cousin, too!}

whom they both adore!
{Thanks again for playing with the kids so much, J!  They really miss you!}

Side Note:  the guys got 4 deer {their limit!} and we will all be enjoying some venison this winter!

Picture of the Day ~ Week 44

L wanted to 'help me' switch our calendar to November today.  She was color coordinating our activities for the month, too {don't ask me where she gets that...}!
L doesn't care how cold it is outside these days; if she has access to water and dirt (or sand, whichever is handy!) she is happy!

Hungry Hungry Hippos {the self-contained version - meaning only 2 hippos and no run-away marbles} is a hit at our house right now.  D and I have even played a few rounds!

When I asked the kids today if they'd like to paint, I Man said, "car?"  As it turns out, painting with your fingers is just as much fun {and equally messy}!

We traveled to D's parents' place this evening for deer hunting {which opens tomorrow}.
Side note:  that's the shadow of our car headed north, in case you couldn't tell!

While the guys enjoyed beautiful weather for deer hunting today, we enjoyed some fun outside time with Grandma.  We even got to 'help' Grandma feed some oats to her horses.  I Man was all excited to help carry the oats {see how he's pointing?} but once he got there and Grandma asked him if he wanted to get closer to the horse he said, "no!" leaving just L and Grandma to the task!
