Project Life ~ Weeks 48 & 49

With Thanksgiving behind us, it was time to deck the halls!   L helped us hang ornaments on the tree while I Man napped.

Later, he got the honor of adding the star...

he also thought this was pretty fun!

The library held a 'Holiday Apron Workshop' for kids (4 & up) today.  L didn't want to make Christmas trees and ornaments, though.  She preferred butterflies and flowers instead!

We do a fair amount of art projects around here but until today I Man had never used watercolor paints (I have a thing about the colors getting mixed together - are you surprised?).  He did a great job with them - hooray!

We talked about the letter D and dinosaurs this week so we made fossil cookies!

I must admit, I was disappointed that they didn't turn out better.  Can you see the Stegosaurus?

While the kids were outside playing today, I looked out the window to see them having a snowball fight.  After running for my camera, this was the best picture I could get.  I thought about yelling down for them to throw a few more so I could get a better picture, but I didn't (not that I would ever have them reenact something just so I could get a picture of it, ahem!).

I'm pretty sure the only reason D wants a bit more snow is so it's not such a chore pulling these two through the snow grass!

We had a party to celebrate birthdays for J and N.  After lunch, the kids had gone to play and someone told them there was cake so I Man came running and climbed up into his booster...

totally unaware that he was in the middle of the pictures!

These 2 came running for cake, too!

With 50 degree weather on December 3rd and colder weather on the way, the kids and I headed to the park!
(more pictures coming...)

One morning, the kids made a boat complete with a telescope...

and Captain I Man!

Just like last year, we played Jack Frost's NOT lost, which involves eating a lot of marshmallows...

A LOT!

D made me a homemade McGriddle for breakfast this morning.  It doesn't look very appetizing in this picture, but trust me it was gooood!  D, you really are the best!!

Thanksgiving {2012}

We went to my grandparent's house for Thanksgiving this year.  It was much like your Thanksgiving I'm sure...

 family,

family,

and more family.

Great food

and pumpkin pie!

Smiles,

sleepy smiles
(no nap)

and more smiles.

Scooter rides,

early Christmas presents,

Angry Birds

and grape eating contests!
You know the usual stuff!  ;-)

Oh and we attempted to get our Christmas card photo, too.  Obviously the ones I've posted aren't Christmas card worthy and there were plenty of others I could have posted but I love, love, love these two because they are so true to our real life...

L off singing and dancing, I Man being silly and D wondering why on earth he's on a golf course and not golfing!

*Grin* and Sigh!

Thankful

The week before Thanksgiving, the kids and I did a few 'Thanksgiving' crafts including this pumpkin pie. It certainly wasn't the most artistic thing we've ever done but when I saw that one of the things L was thankful for was 'A momma that loves me' I was glad we'd made them anyway! :-) Now this is one of those projects that will soon end up in the recycling bin but I don't want to forget what they were thankful for this year...

L - A momma that loves me, stuffed animals to play with, picture frames, crayons, balloons, friends to play with and my bed.

I Man - The ducky game, my daddy, my mommy, the pencils, my sister, the vacuum, the red balloon.

Project Life ~ Week 44 - 47 November

For real, this time (thanks for the tip, Lesley!)!  Honestly, I have no idea why the month of November past with nary a post.  But somehow it did and in the interest of not getting any further behind I'm posting 4 weeks worth (practically all of November) of pictures in this one post.  So sit back, relax and enjoy...

I Man spilled his milk at lunch one day and we had the following conversation...
Me:  "I Man did you spill your milk?"
I Man:  "Yep and it looks like an elephant!"
I guess you could call him an optimist?

L got a head start on her Christmas list this year and hasn't stopped list making since!
{this picture was taken at the end of October}

More snow in October meant the kids were out making snow angels...

and snow tracks

and name writing, too!  :)

Her 'jewelry store.'

L and her 'best friend' P went to Veggie Tales Live! tonight. She loved it!
(ignore the awful phone picture)

It's official, I Man is quicker to learn letters that we 'make' into boyish things (s for snake, t for tractor and d for dinosaur!).  I'm taking any creative ideas you have for the rest of the alphabet!  :)

My mom came for a few days at the beginning of  November while the guys went hunting.  We did some shopping and while at TJMaxx, I Man thought I should buy these red shoes.  Ha!
(Nope, sorry I Man I don't do 4 inch heels!)

Pickles.  Yum!

I attempted to spend the month of November being thankful (and writing it down).  We only ended up doing it a handful of times but I was happy to see this one of L's amidst all of the 'things' she's thankful for!

L spends lots and lots of time playing 'class.'  But I ran for the camera when I saw this, 6 guys set up at desks reading from the Bible.  Notice Sock Monkey and Cheetah are there, too.  I wonder how she got I Man to agree to that?!
(I love that you can see her feet {nail polish included!} in this picture, too.  She is 100% girl!)

Train day at the library!

Waiting for the train to come through the tunnel.
(just ignore the extra kid also looking on)

Like father, like son (the boy loves popcorn!)

The snow was quickly melting but L wasn't going to let it melt without a little more play!

She 'helped' D put our Christmas lights up, too...

actually, she mostly stood on the ladder and posed like this!  :)

Their pre-dinner marching band (yes L is wearing a tutu around her face, she's pretending to be a flower!?)...

which quickly led to this.  He was playing the harmonica (no hands) and smacking his knives together to make more noise!  Silly boy.

After Thanksgiving (post on that coming soon, hopefully...maybe), we went to my sister's place for a few days.  We were able to do some Black Friday Late Night Thursday shopping and on Friday, B & J watched our kids while we went on a date which included dinner, a movie and shopping!  Thank you B & J - we owe you!  :)

These kids really seem to enjoy their time together!  Not sure what they were watching but it must have been good!  I love the smile on A4's face as he grabs I Man's arm and A5's look of 'what are you doing?!'

S & N came over later to play games...

we played Outburst - girls vs. guys and the girls won!
(it was 148 to 129, for the record!)
