Father's Day

Last Father's Day, I wrote about how important D is to me as the father of our children. This year it is even MORE true. I could NOT do my job as a parent without him. He is such a great daddy to our two children! So this year, I wanted to do something special for him. Yes, I (I mean they) got him a practical gift (a new brown belt) but I also wanted to do something special . So we headed outside for another photo shoot! Can I just tell you that taking a picture of 2 kids is very difficult if, in fact, you want them both looking and smiling for the camera.

The truth be told, L doesn't know anything about this gift (or the belt for that matter!) after the Valentine's Day fiasco, I decided not to tell her! Yes, she knows I painted her footprint and took some pictures but that's about it!! Here's what we I came up with...
I hope D likes it, and more importantly, I hope he knows how much we love and appreciate him! Happy Father's Day, D!

Not Me! Monday

It's Not Me! Monday again! A day when I confess what has NOT been going on around here (but really has!)...

Baby I did NOT find his toes recently and even if he did, they have NOT become his new favorite toy!!

I do NOT love the Target $1 bins. I certainly did NOT buy this water toy there (for $2.50).
It did NOT keep L happily occupied on the deck on Saturday afternoon. Sweet outfit, huh?

We did NOT play Memory during a family game night last week. D and baby I did NOT win quite a few matches (probably 'cause they were working together...). ;-)

L did NOT get to eat cherries for snack after our game. See?

I did NOT capture this photo of some father-daugther time through the kitchen window unbeknownst to these two!
Baby I does NOT like to have his pacifier and his fingers in his mouth at the same time!
L does NOT sort her fruit snacks by color before eating them. What kind of a two year old does these things??

Not Me! Monday

It's Not Me! Monday again, a day when I confess what has NOT been going on around here (but really has!)...

I do NOT let baby I lay around in just his diaper most mornings...

I did NOT build a 'fort' for L using the sheets I took off of our bed on laundry day last week...
L was NOT very excited about it!!

We did NOT play 'food' in the fort complete with spaghetti and coffee. See?

L does NOT like to give things to baby I. This does NOT sometimes include my flip flops. Even if it did, I would certainly take the flip flop away from him rather than grabbing my camera for a quick picture.

After hearing "I want to do a project!" a gazillion times last week, I did NOT cut up some colored paper and give it and a glue stick to L and tell her to 'make a masterpiece.'

It did NOT turn out far better than I expected...

I did NOT break out the exersaucer for baby I last week. He is NOT enjoying his new toy as I speak write...

At supper the other night, L did NOT say, "Hey, it's a P for Peterson!"

She was NOT talking about this mushroom. See?

L does NOT enjoy helping daddy in the garden...

...especially if it does NOT mean picking (and eating) fresh strawberries. YUM!

We did NOT put the seed packet in the dirt to mark the rows and leave some seeds inside. Even if we did, those seeds would NOT now be growing into pea plants. Nope, nope, nope!

I did NOT buy these shoes (from The Children's Place) for L at a garage sale for 25 cents. Even if I did, I did NOT buy a blue pair, too. A girl can NEVER have too many shoes...really! ;-)

Finally, NONE of the following phrases came out of my mouth this week...

“L, please don’t lick me. No, you are not a cat.”

“No, you cannot have your giant marshmallow for breakfast today. Yes, I know that you went stinky in the potty. You can have it after you eat breakfast. Yes, I know you got to have it for breakfast yesterday, but not today!”

“Please don’t pick your nose and wipe it on me!”

“Yes, he can touch you. He’s just a baby he doesn’t even know he’s touching you!"

Nope, NOT me!

I tried to take some pictures of the kids yesterday...Enjoy!

2nd Annual Hot Dog Roast

You know...roasting hot dogs at the gravel pit, just like we did last year, thus the 2nd Annual Hot Dog Roast!

Everyone was there... even L, who got to eat hot dogs... and chips! Baby I was there too, but he didn't get to eat hot dogs or chips, he mostly chewed on his fingers... and smiled...and laughed!

When It Rains, It Pours!

We spent the weekend at D's parents' place this weekend and on Saturday it rained and rained and RAINED leaving this huge 'puddle' (as L calls it) in the front yard...

L thought it would be fun to splash in the puddle...
so in she went!

She even got D in on the action...

See?

Yes, she was wet up to the waist when we finally coaxed her into being done. Yes, her boots were full of water and yes she played in the 'puddle' several more times before the weekend was over (at which point I was out of clean/dry clothes for her!)!

I know Grandma and Grandpa P didn't like all the rain, but L sure did! ;-)
