Project Life ~ Week 34 {the one at the lake}

Yes, it's true that we're just about done with another week and I'm just posting my pictures from last week but I have lots of excuses like the pile of laundry I've been trapped under washing, folding and putting away, the refereeing I've been doing (because L and I Man are suddenly without cousins and have only each other to play with!) and my failed attempt at baking bread three. times. in. a. row!  Sigh (more on that later...maybe)!  Oh and there is this...when I uploaded the pictures from our trip to the lake {which included my own pictures and those of my sister} the number was 838.  Yep, it's overwhelming!  I've narrowed it down to 35.  You're welcome!  Without further ado...

Day 1
Sunday {08.19.12}

 (with the beach 20 feet from the back door and the playground 10 feet from the side door, this may have been the perfect cabin for 13 people (7 of which are age 9 or under!)).

 (sticks and cups with S & N)

 (by S & A1)

(L spent pretty much all of her time in the water!)

 (I Man was a little more hesitant.  Notice his hands are folded and he is sitting just so {so as not to touch anymore sand than he has to!} with a scowl on his face...)

(they filled up the table all by themselves!)

Day 2
Monday {08.20.12}

 (the babies)

 (notice I Man is a bit more comfortable now!)

 (uncle (D), niece (A1) kayak races!)

 (L's 'kayak')

(ice cream at DQ)

Day 3
Tuesday {08.21.12}

(lucky for us the pontoon had a max of 18 people so our 13 was no problem!)

("hey, I've got a fish here.")

Day 4
Wednesday {08.22.12}
We spent this morning shopping downtown (no pictures, boo!) but the kids made the most of the afternoon playing on the beach!

 (uncle D even showed them how to make a river!)

(most evenings were filled with games and laughter.  here we were playing 6 handed solitaire.  it was intense.)

Day 5
Thursday {08.23.12}

(the whole crew)

(picking out and buying{!} their very own ice cream!)

 (a new found frog)

Day 6
Friday {08.24.12}

(L learned how to pump - hooray!!)

(wait!  is that a smile?!)

(Goodbye lake!  We miss you already!)

Saturday {08.25.12}
D attended his 15 year class reunion today.  He didn't take the camera with him so hopefully we'll get a picture or two from someone who did!

Project Life ~ Week 33

 (he later moved to the dirt because, "a tractor's gotta go in the field, mom!")

(she enjoyed the attention, a little too much, perhaps...)

(glad to be done, or maybe it's the fruit snacks?)

Project Life ~ Week 32

(we rearranged the playroom this weekend, which so far has proved to get the kids down there a little more {yay!})

(it now includes a 'book nook' with beanbag chairs {though I have more planned for this area someday...}

and a magnetic white board, which so far has been for magnets only {I'm not quite brave enough to leave markers in an unsupervised play area just yet})

(I Man was telling me today how when we have a dog he'll throw the tennis ball and the dog will run get it and bring it back.  I told him that we might not have a dog but we could still play fetch.  He may or may not have chased many a ball...

I may or may not have have thrown two balls when L wanted in on all the fun.  Yep, I am that mom!  Don't judge!)

Saturday {08.11.12}

This Weekend...

we got a new {to us} ride
(We were in a car accident with our minivan and it was totaled {boo!}.  We bought my dad and H's Honda Pilot and they brought it up to us this weekend.)

(the kids were really excited about the built-in DVD player

see?)

 we were downtown

we hung out with onto Grandpa

and cheesed it up with C

we ate ice cream

and more ice cream (!)

we talked a lot about the Packers

and got our nails painted by C.

Thanks again for coming, you'll have to stay longer next time!

Seriously!  :)

Conversations

{While playing with a rollerblading Blue Clues toy at Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's house...}
I Man:  "Puppies don't skate."
Me:  "They don't?  Why not?"
I Man:  "They have to chew on bones!"

L:  "Dad, you shouldn't call sunglasses 'shades.'"
D:  "Why not?"
L:  "People will think you're weird!"

D:  "Guess what we're having for breakfast?"
I Man:  "What?"
D:  "Pancakes!"
I Man:  "Ooooh..."
D:  "Do you like pancakes?"
I Man:  "Yes, do you like pancakes?"
D:  "Yes I do."
I Man:  "Oh that's just wonderful!"

{After passing some obvious gas...}
Me:  "I Man, do you have to go stinky?"
I Man:  "Ummm, nope.  That was just my belly button making noise!"

L:  "When I grow up I'm going to be a chocolate cake baker."
I Man:  "When I grow up I'm gonna be a baseball guy."
L:  "That's good, then Dad can watch you on TV."

L:  "There's no tractors allowed here."
I Man:  "Uh huh, this tractor is too loud!"
L:  "No, that means there's no tractors allowed in here!"
I Man:  "THIS TRACTOR IS LOUD!"
{Don't worry I intervened at this point...}

L:  "Hey!  That's a pretty car!  It lights up when you drive it!"
Me:  "It's a police car."
L:  "Oh."

Me: "I Man is 2 1/2 today!"
L: "It's your 1/2 birthday, bud!"
I Man {looking at me}: "Are you makin' me a cake?"

{After sneezing twice without a reaction from anyone...}
L:  "No blessing L today, I guess!"

L:  "MOM, I saw a hummingbird!"
Me:  "You did?  What color was it?"
L:  "Um, orange and purple and certainly beautiful!"

Project Life ~ Weeks 30 & 31

Technically, these pictures are almost all from Week 31, but I did include pictures from a quick trip D and I took to Winnipeg {without kids, thanks again Grandma and Grandpa P!} on Saturday and Sunday so it totally counts as week 30!  Besides, it would be a shame to make it look like I missed a week.  :-)

 (the marketplace at the Forks, Winnipeg)

 (the sights of Winnipeg - from the boat)

(potty training is in full swing around here, thus the pantless 2 year old!)

(we've been watching diving!)

(I use the term 'pet' loosely as L made it "swim" a little too long...not that I would let that thing in my house, ewww!)

Learning to Swim

For the last two weeks, L has attended Preschool Swimming Lessons at our local pool.  She loved it {as I knew she would}!  Take a look...

(she got a sucker for successfully completing her lessons!)
